In the long run, the consolidation of the transcoding industry may limit choice, especially in the desktop market. Yet the integration of transcoding tools like Adobe’s Media Encoder into editing and post-production workflows means a tighter coupling of transcoding at the time of need for limited-scope projects, and should yield benefits to the event videography market.

Telestream, best-known for the Flip4Mac and FlipFactory transcoding solutions and the Wirecast live webcasting solution (a 2010 EventDVLive Winner’s Circle selection), has acquired Anystream, developers of the enterprise-level transcoding solution.
